Connecting the Offline world
Shotcode technology promises to revolutionize the mobile internet:
"Today, businesses cannot get people to use their mobile phones to browse the internet. This is because typing in domain names on a phone is a time-consuming and frustrating process. ShotCodes change all of this, radically.
ShotCodes are offline web links. When captured by a mobile camera, ShotCodes instantly and effortlessly take users to any desired location on the internet.
ShotCodes are easy to make and can be tied to any web address. Businesses can make their own ShotCodes and add them to existing print media or turn them into brand new tools for sales and customer interaction. "
Pretty neat stuff! To get started use the download link or jump directly to the developers page and start creating your own shotcodes today!

Are you seeing pop-ups requesting authentication when viewing this page?
They are caused by the shotcode images that are still in closed beta.
To access the shotcodes and beta site at www.shotcode.org use
username: shotcode
password: betaaccess
There is a competing product offering from www.semacode.org that has been around for quite some time now but was unable to get Semacode's Java client software running on any of the 4 different phones I tested on.
Although the Semacode software itself ran on all of the phones tested it was the camera connection could never be made, rendering the semacode application useless.
My advise is to forget about Semacode for now and give shotcode a try, be creative and let us know about it on Martijn's Gadget Blog!
